Payroll & Benefits Coordinator

Mid Kansas Cooperative is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll & Benefits Coordinator to support our Human Resources & Talent Management team. This role administers biweekly payroll, benefits enrollments, and leave programs for MKC employees, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and confidentiality. The coordinator maintains HRIS and timekeeping data, reconciles deductions, resolves employee inquiries, and assists with audits and reporting. In MKC’s team-oriented, customer-focused culture, this position partners with managers and staff to deliver reliable payroll and benefits service that supports our mission of serving Kansas producers and rural communities.
Process biweekly payroll accurately and on time, including new hires, terminations, and pay adjustments.
Administer employee benefits enrollments, changes, and terminations; coordinate with vendors and brokers.
Maintain HRIS and timekeeping systems; audit data for accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
Ensure compliance with federal and state wage and hour laws, payroll taxes, and benefit regulations.
Reconcile payroll and benefit deductions; assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end reporting.
Respond to employee questions on pay, benefits, and leave with timely, customer-focused support.
Assist with FMLA and other leave administration, tracking, and documentation.
Support annual benefit open enrollment and employee communication materials.
Prepare routine and ad hoc payroll, benefits, and HR metrics reports for leadership.
Collaborate with HR team on process improvements, audits, and special projects supporting MKC’s safety- and service-driven culture.

CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) – preferred
FPC (Fundamental Payroll Certification) – preferred
