About the Role This opportunity is best suited to a senior-level gasfitter with strong technical ability, solid troubleshooting skills, and experience working safely on commercial, industrial, institutional, or large residential gas systems.

The ideal candidate is confident reading drawings, diagnosing gas equipment issues, completing installations and service work, following code requirements, and working independently or as part of a mechanical service team.

This role may involve gas piping, appliance installation, system upgrades, service calls, preventative maintenance, combustion-related troubleshooting, and coordination with other trades on active job sites.

Key Responsibilities

Install, service, repair, and maintain gas systems and gas-fired equipment

Work on commercial, industrial, institutional, or large residential gas equipment

Read and interpret drawings, specifications, service documents, and technical manuals

Diagnose system issues and complete safe, accurate repairs

Install and test gas piping, venting, regulators, controls, and related components

Perform leak testing, pressure testing, start-up checks, and system inspections

Follow applicable gas codes, safety procedures, site rules, and permit requirements

Communicate clearly with supervisors, clients, inspectors, and other trades

Maintain accurate service records, work orders, and job documentation

Support apprentices or junior technicians when required

Qualifications

Class A Gasfitter certification, or equivalent senior gas certification for the province

Strong experience with commercial, industrial, or higher-capacity gas systems

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Strong troubleshooting and mechanical problem-solving skills

Valid driver’s licence and clean driving record may be required

Ability to read drawings, technical manuals, and service documentation

Strong understanding of job site safety, lockout procedures, and regulated gas work

HVAC, plumbing, refrigeration, boiler, or mechanical service experience is considered an asset

Red Seal, dual-ticket, or additional trade certification is considered an asset

Ideal Candidate You may be a strong fit if you are an experienced gasfitter who has worked on larger systems, commercial service calls, mechanical rooms, boilers, rooftop units, process equipment, industrial facilities, institutional buildings, or high-demand service environments.

This position is not aimed at entry-level helpers. It is intended for experienced gasfitters, senior technicians, lead hands, and certified tradespeople who can take responsibility for safe, accurate gas work.

Compensation $45.00–$58.00 per hour

Final compensation may depend on:

City and employer location

Class A, G1, or equivalent certification level

Commercial or industrial experience

Dual-ticket status

Service truck or travel requirements

Overtime, call-out, shift, or remote project structure
